Apple Developing Groundbreaking 1.4nm Chips for Future iPhones

According to Drop News, Apple is working on a revolutionary new generation of processors for its upcoming iPhones, aiming to surpass current industry standards in performance and efficiency.

While Taiwan-based TSMC recently unveiled 2-nanometer chip technology, Apple is reportedly advancing even further by developing 1.4-nanometer processors. These next-gen chips will utilize entirely new manufacturing technology and are expected to outperform TSMC’s offering.

The report notes that the 2nm chips are slated to debut in the iPhone 18, set for release in the second half of 2026. Meanwhile, the 1.4nm processors are expected to power the iPhone 19, launching in 2027, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone.

The upcoming 1.4nm chips are projected to deliver a 15% performance increase and 30% lower power consumption compared to 2nm chips. When compared to current 3nm processors, performance is expected to improve by 30%, with power usage dropping by 60%.

Tech insider Mark Gurman has previously hinted that the 2027 iPhones will introduce unique, cutting-edge components, but will likely come at a significantly higher price than today’s models.
