Ministry of Interior Issues Dust Storm Warning: Stay Indoors Unless Necessary

The Ministry of Interior has urged the public to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, as a dust storm is approaching from the western border of Kuwait. The storm is expected to reduce horizontal visibility to less than 500 meters and, in some areas, visibility may drop to zero. In a press release, the Ministry’s General Department of Public Relations and Security Media emphasized the importance of following safety instructions. Citizens, residents, and beachgoers are advised to stay updated and contact the emergency hotline “112” in case of any urgent situations.

Motorists are advised to:

  • Use hazard lights only to warn others.
  • Reduce speed and maintain a safe distance.
  • Follow weather updates closely.
  • Avoid using mobile phones while driving.
  • Keep windows closed and set air conditioning to recirculation mode.
  • Avoid driving near sand dunes and opt for side roads when visibility is poor.
