The 10 most prominent violations detected by the Ministry of Commerce in the markets during June
The Ministry of Trade and Industry is ramping up its efforts to strengthen market oversight and uphold consumer rights. At the top of the list were price manipulation offenses, with 99 recorded cases falling under illegal pricing practices. Failure to use Arabic in invoices and advertisements followed closely, with 81 violations noted. Another 62 cases involved non-compliance with exchange and return regulations, directly impacting consumer protection.
For electronic goods and services, 52 violations were registered due to suppliers neglecting to provide product details in Arabic on packaging or display areas. Misleading commercial claims also emerged as a major issue, with 46 cases of deceptive advertising regarding product information or pricing.
Additionally, the department recorded 40 cases of businesses operating without an official license and another 40 violations for omitting the country of origin on food product labels.
These findings underscore the Ministry’s commitment to enforcing transparency and accountability across the market, ensuring that consumer interests remain protected.
